Why Didn’t My Spell Work?
While I get many customers visiting the store to ask how to perform a ritual or what to use to get back an ex, I’m often hesitant to recommend certain products.
This isn’t about gatekeeping or doubting someone’s experience. It’s that some situations require more than a packet of Jezebel Root. In fact, some situations need time, conversation, personal reflection, accountability, and acknowledgement.
I’m not here to judge, and I don’t work with the “three-fold” methodology. But I do advise that clients follow their own practice or intuition, rather than just reaching for a quick solution.
Do Spells Work?
Some people call it manifesting. Some call it prayer. Some call it spellwork. In reality, they overlap more than people think.
The Law of Attraction isn’t scientifically proven, yet across cultures and traditions, there are countless accounts of people gaining what they need or shifting the direction of their lives.
And honestly, I don’t think it always needs to be over-analysed.
What I can say, as a practitioner, is that I’ve worked with many clients who have shared positive results from custom work. There are people practising witchcraft, working with Psalms and candles, or building relationships with spirits and deities, and still, there are times when things don’t land the way they expected.

Why Didn’t My Spell Work?
When it comes to prosperity work, I often recommend not working from a place of lack.
That can sound a bit strange. Surely you work on money when you need it most?
But urgency can distort intention.
Is there something deeper going on with your relationship to money?
Do you feel undeserving of it?
Is this a period where you’re meant to learn something first?
Is abundance, in the way you’re imagining it, actually part of your path right now?
These aren’t always comfortable questions, and they’re often not the first thing someone considers when they need a specific amount of cash quickly.
A lottery win might not be aligned for you. But having enough, consistently, to meet your needs might be. That’s a different kind of working, and often a more useful one.
Working on difficult people is another common situation.
Whether it’s someone you want out of your space, away from a partner, or removed from your environment, there’s often an expectation that things should shift quickly.
But people have lives, circumstances, and limitations. Moving house, changing behaviour, or leaving a situation isn’t always immediate, even if you want it to be.
Even experienced practitioners tend to take a layered approach.
That might look like combining different methods, understanding the person’s situation properly, and working strategically over time. It’s rarely a one-and-done situation. If it were, everyone would be doing it successfully.
Planning, Execution, and Gratitude
Think about your last working that actually felt successful.
You probably planned it. You thought about your intention. You chose your materials with care.
But did you close it properly?
Did you give thanks?
Acknowledge the plant spirits?
Offer something back to your guides or spiritual team?
Working from a place of constant asking, without acknowledgement, creates a one-sided relationship.
This isn’t about fear or punishment. It’s just about respect.
For example, St. Expedite is known for working quickly, but also for expecting recognition. There are many stories of things being undone just as quickly when gratitude isn’t given.
Whether you work with spirits, ancestors, or simply your own practice, closing with thanks matters.
So, Why Didn’t Your Spell Work?
There isn’t one simple answer.
Sometimes it’s timing.
Sometimes it’s misalignment.
Sometimes it’s expectation.
Sometimes it’s that the work wasn’t deep enough.
And sometimes, it’s just that something else needs your attention first.
Only you can really sit with that, take accountability where needed, and approach your next working with more awareness.
