Description

Friday the Purrteenth is an 8 x 10 inch art print from Kat Philbin’s cult-favourite Horror Cats series, a collection that began in 2014 with two tribute pieces created for a Wes Craven show at Hyaena Gallery in Burbank. Since then, the series has grown to include a mischievous cast of horror and horror-adjacent icons, each softened, disarmed and thoroughly upstaged by cats.

In this piece, a masked slasher legend finds himself completely overtaken by feline chaos. Instead of menace, we are given a tangle of paws, tails and unapologetic cat energy. One cat sprawls confidently in the foreground, another perches mid-clamber, while others curl and blink with perfect indifference. The once-intimidating figure is reduced to a rather unfortunate cat cushion.

The humour lands instantly, but it is the gentle watercolour style that gives the piece warmth. The palette is soft, the lines expressive, and the overall tone feels more affectionate than mocking. It is horror nostalgia viewed through the lens of someone who truly loves both cinema and cats.

This print is ideal for film fans who grew up on late-night classics but now share their sofa with a pet who rules the household. It works beautifully in relaxed, personality-filled interiors, on gallery walls that mix vintage horror posters with playful art, or in cosy rooms where books, plants and cats coexist happily.

At 8 x 10 inches, it is easy to frame and layer into existing décor. It brings humour without shouting, and charm without losing its edge.

Kat Philbin, originally from Southwest Missouri and now based in Los Angeles, has built The Stupid Animal Shop into a globally loved brand. Her Horror Cats series proves that even the most fearsome characters can be rendered harmless by a pile of kittens.

They may be bad… but who can resist a bunch of kitty cats?
