Description
ASTALI: Single Bullet Necklace – Brass .223, Recycled Shell Casing
Designed and handmade by Los Angeles-based artist Shannon De Jong, this striking unisex necklace embodies the ethos of ASTALI: transforming the discarded into something enduring, tactile, and meaningful. Crafted from a recycled .223 brass bullet casing collected from a shooting range, each pendant carries the weight of transformation—violence repurposed into art, destruction reimagined as beauty.
The piece features a genuine reclaimed shell casing suspended from an antique-brass chain and secured with a matching lobster clasp. Measuring approximately 28 inches in length, it layers beautifully with shorter necklaces or makes a confident standalone statement. Each casing bears subtle marks from its previous life, small dents that serve as reminders of its journey—imperfections that are not flaws but symbols of renewal and resilience.
ASTALI’s founder, Shannon De Jong, began her creative path in rural Iowa, repurposing found objects and natural fragments into adornments long before the brand was born. Today, she continues to craft jewellery that celebrates the dialogue between the natural world and human ingenuity. Her work draws inspiration from natural history museums, flea markets, and forgotten relics, bringing together materials with a history and an antique soul.
This necklace represents slow fashion at its most conscious—sustainably made in small batches, designed to endure, and created with care for both craft and planet. Every ASTALI piece is produced in Shannon’s Los Angeles studio with attention to texture, patina, and the quiet poetry of reclaimed material.
