Description
Strix Craft: Ancient Greek Magic for the Modern Witch by Oracle Hekataios is a practical exploration of Hellenic folk magick adapted for contemporary practice. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek traditions, mythology, and devotional rites, this book centres the figure of the strix — a night-flying spirit associated with witchcraft, liminality, and hidden knowledge.
Blending historical context with modern application, the text introduces readers to Greek deities, underworld symbolism, protective charms, curse-breaking rites, and household ritual customs. Particular emphasis is placed on working with Hekate and other chthonic forces, honouring the crossroads, lunar cycles, and ancestral currents that shaped ancient magickal practice. The guidance is structured yet flexible, allowing practitioners to respectfully adapt older forms into personal ritual frameworks.
This paperback is well suited to witches drawn to classical mythology, devotional practice, and historically rooted spellcraft. It pairs naturally with altar spaces dedicated to Hekate, offerings at thresholds, torch symbolism, and lunar observances. Rather than romanticising the past, the author presents ancient Greek magick as a living current — one that requires discernment, respect, and ethical clarity.
Accessible to dedicated beginners while still meaningful for experienced practitioners, this book supports deepening connection to Hellenic witchcraft, protective rites, and liminal magick. A thoughtful addition to any occult library focused on ancestral traditions and historically inspired craft.
