Description
This hand-carved Black Obsidian Cobra stands approximately 2 inches tall and carries deep spiritual symbolism rooted in protection, transformation, and ancestral wisdom. Carved from pure volcanic glass, each piece is unique, with natural variances in shape, texture, and polish. In spiritual and magickal traditions, Black Obsidian is known for its grounding energy and its association with truth, psychic shielding, and shadow work. When shaped into the form of a cobra—a serpent revered in cultures across Africa, India, and the Mediterranean—the symbolism deepens.
Cobras are ancient icons of divine wisdom, kundalini energy, and spiritual awakening. In Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) cosmology, the cobra is linked to Wadjet, the protective serpent goddess who guarded the pharaoh and was believed to spit fire at their enemies. She was also associated with intuition, solar energy, and divine justice. Placing this cobra on an altar dedicated to Wadjet or other protective spirits can amplify intentions around spiritual vigilance and sovereignty.
In Yoruba and Afro-Caribbean traditions, the serpent is sacred to Oshun, the goddess of rivers, sensuality, and hidden wisdom. In certain paths, the cobra figure may also resonate with the energy of Damballa, the serpent Lwa in Haitian Vodou, who is honoured as the father of creation and the spirit of peace. This carving may serve as a symbolic offering or representation in rituals centred on healing, ancestral communion, or spiritual purity.
This piece can be used as:
- A focal point in meditation or energy healing to assist with grounding and accessing deeper truths.
- An altar offering to deities or spirits associated with serpents, transformation, or psychic awareness.
- A protective amulet, believed in some traditions to absorb negative energies and ward off spiritual attacks.
Please note: Due to the individual nature of crystals and minerals, the Black Obsidian Cobra you receive may vary slightly in shape, polish, and detailing from those pictured, offering you a one-of-a-kind guardian uniquely aligned to you.
