Fortune in Your Hands: A Witch’s Guide to Playing Card Divination and Magick – Alaric Albertsson – Numerology • Elemental Insight • Practical Witchcraft
Fortune in Your Hands by Alaric Albertsson is a practical and empowering guide to using an ordinary deck of playing cards as both a divinatory and magickal tool. Written with the clarity and wisdom that has made Albertsson a respected voice in modern witchcraft, this book invites practitioners to look beyond the familiar and recognise the hidden potential of the most commonplace object—the playing card deck.
Drawing upon centuries of folk divination, numerological symbolism, and elemental magick, Albertsson reintroduces the reader to a system as ancient and layered as the Tarot itself. Through his step-by-step guidance, each of the fifty-two cards becomes a gateway to self-understanding and intuitive power. The suits are explored in depth through their elemental correspondences—hearts for water and emotion, clubs for fire and drive, diamonds for earth and manifestation, and spades for air and intellect. The book goes further, revealing how the numbers carry meaning of their own, transforming every card into a living symbol within your spiritual vocabulary.
Albertsson also expands the practice beyond divination, showing how these cards can become magickal tools in their own right. From creating simple spells and ritual spreads to setting intentions and reading for others, he provides accessible techniques for both beginners and seasoned readers. Ethical guidance is woven throughout, grounding the work in integrity and respect for the craft.
Perfect for witches, readers, and spiritual seekers looking for a versatile, everyday form of divination, Fortune in Your Hands reminds us that fortune-telling is not about fate, but about connection—between the elements, the self, and the unseen. With nothing more than a humble pack of cards, Albertsson teaches how to read the patterns of possibility and gently shape the energies of what’s to come.
