Description
The 7 Knob Candle – White is a classic ritual tool used in many spiritual and folk-magick practices. Each of the seven knobs represents a step, stage, or petition. Burned over several days or in a sequence of prayers, the candle is believed to focus intention and build energy in a structured way.
The White 7 Knob Candle is especially versatile. White is widely recognised in spiritual communities as a colour of:
- Purity and cleansing — clearing away negativity and restoring balance.
- Healing and peace — soothing mind, body, and spirit.
- Truth and clarity — opening the way for honesty and insight.
- Universal substitution — when no other colour is available, white can stand in for any intention.
- Divine and ancestral connection — often lit in honour of spirits, guides, and protective presences.
Working with 7 Knob Candles
Each knob is usually burned as its own phase of the work. Some practitioners burn one knob each day for seven days, while others burn one knob per week to carry a petition across seven weeks.
Petitions may be written on paper and placed beneath the candle, sometimes with names, prayers, or personal items. The candle can also be dressed with ritual oils or surrounded with herbs, powders, or crystals to strengthen its symbolism.
Common Uses of the White 7 Knob Candle
Cleansing and Renewal
Burned with prayers for purification, the White 7 Knob Candle is believed to help dissolve negativity layer by layer, each knob representing a step towards renewal.
Healing
White candles are often chosen for healing work. Burning one knob per day over seven days allows the prayer for recovery to be repeated and strengthened across time.
Peace and Protection
For harmony in the home, a White 7 Knob Candle may be placed at the centre of the household or altar. Each knob can be dedicated to a specific aspect of peace — safety, kindness, understanding, calm, clarity, forgiveness, and guidance.
Universal Petition
Because white is considered the universal substitute, this candle can be used for any intention: love, money, protection, guidance, or success. Each knob may carry a different petition, or all may be focused on one unified goal.
Ancestor and Spirit Offerings
White candles are frequently lit for benevolent spirits, ancestors, or guiding presences. A White 7 Knob Candle can be burned to mark a cycle of offerings or prayers made over seven days.
Example Ritual: 7-Day Cleansing Prayer
- Write your name on a piece of paper. Cross it with the words “Cleanse me and bring me peace.” Place this beneath the candle.
- Dress the candle with a cleansing or blessing oil, rubbing upwards to draw blessings in.
- Burn the first knob on day one, reciting a prayer for purification (many choose Psalm 51 or their own words).
- Repeat daily until all seven knobs are burned, offering your prayer each time.
- Dispose of any remains respectfully, away from the home.
