Description
Witches Magazine, edited by Laura O’Rourke, is an independent, non-profit publication dedicated to contemporary witchcraft, community, and creative expression. Founded in 2019 by Ellen, a journalism student at Falmouth University, the magazine was created with a clear intention: to offer an inclusive space where witches of all paths could feel seen, heard, and connected.
Now guided by Laura O’Rourke, Witches Magazine has grown into a respected voice within modern witchcraft publishing. Each issue brings together a carefully curated blend of practical content and reflective writing, making it both a working companion and a source of inspiration. Within its pages, readers will find spells, crystal insights, folklore, horoscopes, tarot and oracle work, alongside nature writing and personal experiences shared by practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds.
Features spells, tarot, oracle work, and seasonal practices
Includes folklore, nature writing, and personal reflections
Showcases original artwork and photography
Blends practical guidance with thoughtful, experience-led writing
Welcomes both established and emerging voices within the community
Each issue is shaped by the rhythm of the seasons. Winter editions, for example, often reflect stillness, introspection, and the quieter forms of magick that emerge during darker months. This seasonal awareness runs throughout the magazine, encouraging readers to align their practice with natural cycles and their own personal pace.
The magazine is supported by a dedicated editorial team, including Vanessa Tait and Gabby Marshall, alongside contributors who bring lived knowledge, creativity, and authenticity to every edition. Some voices return issue after issue, while others appear for the first time, ensuring a balance between familiarity and fresh perspective.
Importantly, Witches Magazine operates on a non-profit basis. Its focus remains on accessibility, representation, and community rather than commercial gain. By offering a platform for witches to share their work, it helps preserve and evolve contemporary practice in an open, supportive environment.
Whether you are a solitary practitioner, part of a coven, or simply curious, Witches Magazine offers something to return to again and again. With both current and past issues available, it provides an evolving archive of modern witchcraft as it is lived and practised today.
Supporting Witches Magazine means supporting independent witchcraft media created by witches, for witches.
