Description

Reverse Curse Oil is a 10 ml spiritual condition oil made at Wax Spiritual for use in reversal, uncrossing, protection and other forms of ritual work where the intention is to turn away, break, remove or redirect unwanted influence.

Condition oils are a long-established part of folk magic, conjure and practical spiritual traditions. Unlike perfume oils, they are prepared for a specific spiritual condition or purpose and are traditionally used to dress or prepare ritual objects, petitions, candles and other tools used within a working.

The word condition refers to the situation being addressed. A condition oil might be made for prosperity, protection, love, court work, road opening, uncrossing, reversal or another specific intention. The oil becomes one part of the ritual language of the working, carrying the chosen condition into whatever object or practice it is being used with.

What Is a Condition Oil?

A condition oil is a prepared ritual oil associated with a particular spiritual intention or circumstance. These oils are especially well known within African American conjure, Hoodoo and wider folk-magic traditions, where they may be used alongside prayer, candles, herbs, powders, petitions, charms and other ritual tools.

Traditionally, condition oils may be used to:

  • Dress candles before burning
  • Anoint petition papers
  • Prepare charms, talismans or mojo bags
  • Dress ritual tools
  • Mark doorways, thresholds or objects
  • Anoint photographs, written names or personal concerns
  • Add to ritual work alongside herbs, powders or incense
  • Prepare objects used within altar or spell work

There is no single universal method. Different traditions, practitioners and personal systems may use condition oils in different ways, and some people work very formally while others develop their own methods over time.

About Reverse Curse Work

Reverse work is traditionally concerned with turning back, breaking or redirecting unwanted spiritual influence.

Depending on the practitioner and tradition, this may involve reversing candles, mirror symbolism, uncrossing work, protective ritual, petitions, prayer, cleansing or other forms of spiritual action.

Some practitioners use reversal work when they believe they are dealing with crossed conditions, spiritual interference, ill will, envy, deliberate magical work or a persistent pattern they wish to break. Others may use it more broadly within protection, boundary work or personal ritual.

Reverse Curse Oil can be incorporated into whatever method fits your own practice, whether that involves candle dressing, petition work, altar work, charm preparation or a more personal ritual system.

How Condition Oils Are Traditionally Used

When dressing candles, a small amount of oil is usually applied to the candle before it is burned. Some traditions also use the direction of movement while dressing a candle as part of the working, although methods vary considerably.

Petition papers may be lightly anointed before being placed beneath a candle, carried, folded into a charm or incorporated into another ritual.

Condition oils may also be used to dress objects connected with the working, including charms, talismans, ritual tools or protective items. In some practices, oils are combined with corresponding herbs, powders, incense, prayers or spoken petitions to build a layered working around the same intention.

The oil does not dictate the ritual. It is one component that can be incorporated into an existing practice or used as part of a working developed by the practitioner.

For external ritual use only. Not for ingestion. If using with candles, apply sparingly and keep oil away from the wick and open flame.
